Marking yet another first for the Fiji Police Force, Sergeant’s Jock Luita and Laitia Nahalo were deployed as trainers to assist with the New Zealand Police supported Officer Safety Pacific (OSP) Programme component with the Pacific Police Support Group (PPSG) training.
The PPSG is a regional effort under the Australian Federal Police supported Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI), comprising of a pool of trained Pacific police who, together with the AFP, are ready to deploy to Pacific nations in support of major event management or additional capacity in times of crisis.
Sgt Nahalo and Sgt Luita’s deployment were as a result of their consistent ability to demonstrate their capabilities as certified OSP trainers, training officers with a framework of tactical options when handling difficult situations.
The two officers assisted their regional comrades deliver the Defensive Tactics training component for the PPSG cohorts from the 03rd -13th of June 2025.
Fiji is fully supportive of all efforts of strengthening collective regional approaches of enhancing Pacific Police capabilities.
