Sergeants Qualifying Course

Participants of the Sergeants Qualifying Course were reminded of the importance of upholding the integrity of the policing profession by being honest and accountable.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu made this statement during the opening of the Sergeant's Qualifying Course where he stated that the reality is that many officers choose to accept the ranks, but not the responsibilities.

"It is reflected in the complaints against police and services. We need officers who are not afraid to talk, aware of their role and authority as holders of the rank of Sergeant," said ACP Driu.

ACP Driu told the participants to use the current training opportunity to better their understanding of their roles.

"It hurts to see the way our organization is being portrayed negatively in the eyes of the public. However, we are to shoulder some blame because of the actions of a few, and as frontline managers and supervisors, this course will strengthen your decision-making abilities contributing to improved service delivery."

The Qualifying Course is aimed at developing leadership skills, strengthen decision making, enhance operational knowledge, improve communication skills, promote ethical leadership and foster professional development.
