A 21-year-old Labasa woman has been charged for giving false information to Police.
The Woman lodged a report with Police that she was assaulted and robbed by two unknown I-Taukei men last Saturday when she was on her way to work.
She reported that she was robbed of her money, golden watch and mobile phone in a park near Labasa Hospital. Upon investigations, CCTV Footage had showed that she got in to a taxi straight after getting off a Bus at the Labasa Bus Stand.
Police had managed to track the Taxi where the driver had confirmed that he dropped the woman at a house in Line Point at Batinikama. The house was later identified to be the 25-year-old boyfriend’s house.
She later admitted that she got off the bus and went to her boyfriend where he then assaulted her. The items claim to be stolen were recovered from the boyfriend’s house.
The assault by the boyfriend was of Domestic Violence in Nature and was reported by Police on behalf of the victim.
The 21-year-old woman has been charged for a count of Giving False Information to a Public Servant, Contrary to Section 201 of the Crimes Act, 2009.
The 25-year-old man has been charged for a count of Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm (ACABH) Contrary to section 275 of the Crimes Act, 2009.
They are both in Police custody and will appear later today at the Labasa Magistrate Court.
