In a united front against the growing threat of illicit drugs in Fiji, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to support the Fiji Police Force in their relentless fight against drug trafficking.
This pledge was formalised during a high-level meeting on Friday at RFMF Headquarters between Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, Commander of the RFMF, and Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu of the Fiji Police Force.
Recognising the urgent need to address the menace of drug-related crimes in our communities, the leaders engaged in strategic discussions to enhance enforcement efforts. A pivotal outcome of the meeting was the establishment of a collaborative joint operations capability, with planned exercises targeting the identification, disruption, and dismantling of drug operations in high-risk areas nationwide.
Major General Kalouniwai emphasised the RFMF’s steadfast support for the Fiji Police Force in upholding national security and public safety, reiterating the military’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement agencies in combating the drug crisis.
Commissioner Tudravu warmly welcomed the strengthened partnership with the RFMF, underscoring the significance of inter-agency collaboration in effectively combating the illicit drug trade that threatens our society.
The formation of a newly established joint task force signifies a concerted effort to launch targeted operations aimed at eradicating drug-ingested areas across Fiji.
