More on drug seizures


Efforts on cutting the drug supply chain is ongoing around the five policing divisions.

This past week farm raids have yielded positive results.

In the Western Division, raids were conducted in Tagitagi in Tavua whereby a 39-year-old man was found with dried leaves and seeds believed to be marijuana, and subsequent search on his farm led to the discovery of plants and potted plants all believed to be marijuana.

Other arrests recorded for unlawful possession of illicit drugs were recorded in Lautoka

In the Eastern Division, plants believed to be marijuana were found on a farm in Nabulini and efforts are underway to identify the owner of the farm. 

Other arrests for unlawful possession of illicit drugs were made in the Korovou and Levuka area of operations.

Other arrests recorded were those believed to be involved in the sale of drugs, in the Western and Southern Divisions.

In Wailoaloa, Nadi, a raid conducted at the home of a 26 year-old woman led to the discovery of several parcels of dread leaves believed be marijuana.

At Kalokalo Crescent Four men were arrested as dried leaves believed to be marijuana were packed in several sachets were foind in a zip lock bag. 

The substances were discovered by K9 Herb in a makeshift shed outside the suspects home, concealed in an old couch. 

Also seized was more than $1000 cash.

Divisional operations are being beefed up with the support of the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit (SOCID), Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), Fiji Police Dog Unit and the Narcotics Bureau.

Community support through the sharing of information and tips is commended, noting the importance of collaboration in curbing the supply and demand of illicit drugs.
