More on drug seizures


The Southern Division task force conducted two successful raids in Sakoca yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu said a raid conducted at the house of the first suspect resulted in the seizure of white substances believed to be methamphetamine.

The team supported by the Fiji Police Dog Unit and Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU) upon receiving information searched the suspect's house, where K9 capabilities was able to detect the alleged illicit substances as well as items believed to have been stolen.

The suspect was taken in to custody as investigations continue.

ACP Driu said another raid also conducted in Sakoca resulted in the arrest of two men following the discovery of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and assorted items believed to have been stolen.

The two in their 30s remain in custody as investigations continue.

ACP Driu said other arrests for alleged cases of unlawful possession were recorded in Sigatoka, Nadi and Taveuni as operations teams step up on the momentum of disrupting and destabilising the illicit network.
