Police Officer charged for driving under the influence of alcohol


A police officer will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has directed the officer be interdicted (suspended) with half pay and await the outcome of his court proceeding?.

The officer is alleged to have whilst under the influence of alcohol driven a police vehicle? along the Queens Road where he lost control, causing it to veer on to the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

The officer has been charged with one count of Dangerous Driving and one count of Driving Motor vehicle whilst there is present in his blood a concentration of alcohol which is above the Prescribed Limit.
