46 year old farmer died in a fatal accident

A 46-year-old farmer of Vivili village, Savusavu, is the first road fatality victim this year.

He was walking along Naidi, Buca Bay Road, this morning when a vehicle coming from the opposite direction lost control and drifted towards the side of the road where he was.

The vechile bumped the farmer, and he died on the spot.

Fiji Police Force Director of Traffic Control, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, said the incident was indeed sad.

" It's sad because we will start the new school year tomorrow, and drivers will need to consider the thousands of students who will be using our roads," said SSP Divuana.

The Director Traffic said that we can expect massive movements on our roads tomorrow, especially in the morning and in the afternoon.

"We are calling on everyone to be cautious while on the road. If you are traveling in the bus, taxi, or even as a pedestrian on the road, please exercise safety at times."

The driver of the said vehicle is in Police custody as the investigation is underway.
