Police officers attending a three-week Field Investigators Course were reminded of the need to be honest in the conduct of investigations.
Acting Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci officiated the opening of the three-week course yesterday at theFiji Police Academy where he said, “Over the next three weeks, your focus should be on up-skilling and equipping yourselves with the knowledge of how to be more proficient at your duties as an investigator.”
The course is a pre-requisite for officers applying for vacancies within the Criminal Investigations Department.
The acting commissioner went onto say, "Successful investigations and prosecutions are what we are measured on. Securing justice is what members of the public demand of us.”
“We cannot afford to take shortcuts, but must be precise and thorough with the conduct of our investigations. We are scrutinised in every single detail of our work. A good investigator has one main goal, a successful prosecution, derived by way of a thorough investigation conducted lawfully.”
The Acting Commissioner wished the participants well in their intense three weeks training.
