Commemoration of milestone

The Fiji Police Partnership Programme supported by the New Zealand High Commission, Suva, Fiji commemorated a milestone between the Fiji Police Force and New Zealand Police last week.

Present to commemorate the milestone reached by the Fiji Police Academy (FPA) Mobile Training team was the New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji H.E. Charlotte Darlow.

Over the past few months the joint FPA Mobile Training team were deployed to various divisions to implement the new training format delivered to hundreds of officers at various levels.

New Zealand Police Senior Advisor Mark Pakes said this accomplishment by the FPA team is a collective effort showcasing their extraordinary teamwork and commitment.

“Each individual’s contribution is acknowledged as vital to overcoming challenges. The successful training has provided a sense of value and re-connection for the officers being trained, reinforcing the shared vision of the Fiji Police Force,”

said Mr Pakes. He adds that he recognized the personal sacrifices made by the mobile training team, including time away from loved ones, which underscores their dedication and sense of duty.

The intent of the Mobile training team was to revamp the mode of delivery ensuring more officers were able to complete mandatory promotional courses, which were previously limited due to logistical challenges.

The partnership between the New Zealand Police and the Fiji Police was acknowledged, reflecting strong international ties and shared values.

The focus of the New Zealand supported Fiji Police Partnership Programme is to add value to the Development of Investigative Interviewing Capability, Development of General Patrol capability (K9), Asset Recovery Support and Development of Leadership and Governance capability.
