Two men charged for scam


Two men will be produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court today charged by the Fiji Police Mpaisa Task Force for separate cases of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception. 

In the first case a 36-year-old man residing in Wailea, Vatuwaqa is alleged to have on the 21st of May 2023 obtained $447.00 from the victim, after informing the her that he had incorrectly sent the One Time Pin and to send the details back to him. 

Upon receiving the OTP, he allegedly transferred the said amount which he withdrew for his own use. 

In another case, a 36-year-old man residing in Koronivia is alleged to have on the17th of November 2023 dishonestly obtained $190 from the victim. 

The investigation revealed that the victim saw a post on Facebook about a car for hire where a deposit of the said amount was sent to the number advertised. 

The accused is alleged to have used the money and failed to provide the service.

Both accused persons will be produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.
