Middle manager leadership training opening

The second phase of the UK in Fiji support towards leadership training for the Fiji Police Force got underway yesterday at the Eastern Division training room at the Nakasi Police Station.

The training opportunity is an extension of the UK Government’s support to the Fiji Police Force through the College of Policing by bringing its specialised Leadership training to Fiji benefiting officers at levels of junior supervisors, middle managers and senior executives.

Speaking during the opening of the three week training was the Head of the UK Integrated Security Fund (UKISF) Pacific Programme Mr Josh Kemp who said, “We acknowledge the Fiji Police Force in investing in your own leadership, and quality of leadership as a whole to be able to tackle issues, as it is not about one part of Fiji, or one community post or station, it is about the systems and leadership”.

Mr Kemp said by empowering officers at all levels, it is easier to delegate decision making amongst all ranks. The Executive level training is expected to be held in early September.

The UK Government’s support to the Fiji Police Force has also included study opportunities under the International Leadership Programme in London for senior officers, recently attended by Divisional Police Commander South, SSP Wate Vocevoce, and before him with the likes of the Director Training and Education SSP Serupepeli Neiko and Director Community Policing SSP Salanieta Radaniva.
