Representatives from eleven (11) Pacific law enforcement agencies are attending the first of a series of trainings under the INTERPOL HQ Project Blue Pacific, Policing Capabilities for Pacific National Central Bureaus and Effective Presentation Skills training at the Nadi Police Station.
The INTERPOL Project Blue Pacific supported by the AustralianFederal Police, New ZealandPolice, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office / National Crime Agency and Pacific IslandsChiefs of Police, aims to establish a formal network in the region, to useINTERPOL resources in a sustainable way for increased information sharing.
Welcoming and opening the training participants from Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu and Fiji was the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew.
“Since the launch of the INTERPOL Project Blue Pacific, we have witnessed the escalation of efforts, at an assuring pace – noting the rapidly evolving regional and domestic security threats faced in the Pacific region”.

The training is focused on enhancing the knowledge of INTERPOL Policing Capabilities for PacificNational Central Bureaus and Effective Presentation Skills.
“There is a lot to be shared, and this two-week training will assist the selected officers develop an appreciation of their roles, in achieving the intent of establishing a formal network in the region under the Project Blue Pacific”.
"At the strategic level, we formulate and conceptualise the implementation of the project, but it is you, the officers who operationalise or breathe life into the plans and documents”.
The Acting Commissioner acknowledged with sincere gratitude the executives of INTERPOL and supporting regional policing and law enforcement efforts in the Pacific.
