More drugs seized

Five men and a woman believed to be selling drugs were taken into custody following joint raids conducted by Divisional Task forces, Fiji Police Dog Unit and Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU).

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu said a 36-year-old man was arrested in Tacirua after a zip lock bag and a container containing several sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were allegedly found on his possession.

Another joint raid conducted in Tacirua Heights resulted in the arrest of two men and a woman. Upon arrival at the suspects home, the team cordoned off the area, whereby the second suspect tried to dispose of two bags containing green leaves believed to be marijuana.

The first suspect then tried to evade arrest by jumping onto the neighbours roof, but was arrested by an officer.

A further search conducted in the home resulted in the arrest of a woman who was allegedly trying to hide sachets of drugs believed to be marijuana under a mat.

All three suspects were taken into custody at the Valelevu Police Station.

ACP Driu said an early morning raid conducted yesterday by the Southern Division Narcotics, Fiji Police Dog Unit and FDDU resulted in the arrest of two men in Wainibuku after they were allegedly found with several zip lock plastics containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and several sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. All seized substances have been sent for analysis as investigations continue.
