Vinaka vakalevu to the UK in Fiji for supporting leadership training efforts for the Fiji Police Force under the UK Integrated Security Fund (UKISF).
Yesterday the first cohort of officers holding middle supervisor roles, graduated from the Leadership training facilitated by the renowned UK College of Policing.
Closing the central division training was the British High Commissioner to Fiji His Excellency Dr Brian Jones, who said the training was the continuation of collaborative efforts between law enforcement.
“It’s a partnership that is going to grow and continue to develop, as you develop through the ranks, there will be elements of UK training whether it is specialized or leadership”.
Meanwhile closing the Western Division cohort training was the Director Training and Education Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Serepepeli Neiko who said it was incumbent of every officer irrespective of rank, to be able to make sound decisions based on best practices.
“While the discussions will be formalized at the strategic level, operationalizing the outcomes, is where you all come in, and in order to play your role effectively in accordance with the organization’s strategic direction, you need to have the necessary tools to lead as first-line leaders”.
“First line leaders shoulder a burden that is quite significant, as you are expected to operationalize the strategic intent of our organization.
You are the future of this organization and therefore it is our duty to prepare you for what lies ahead - and with the help of our friends from the UK College of Policing, they have provided you with the tools to support your professional development and enhance your leadership skills and performance”.
The UK College of Policing has pledged to bring its specialised leadership training to Fiji this year, particularly focussing on supervisor and middle management.
