Multiple raids conducted in the last 24-hour period resulted in the discovery of alleged illicit substances as well as money believed to be proceeds of crime.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu said officers searched a group of youth cutting cane at a farm in Tabia yesterday where they found dried leaves believed to be marijuana, and arrests made.

A suspect was also taken into custody.

Again in the Northern Division, the Cakau Operations team seized plants believed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu area this morning. The owner of the farm is known to police and efforts are underway to locate his whereabouts.

ACP Driu said in Waqadra in the Western Division, officers from the Western K9 Unit and FDDU intercepted a vehicle believed to have been transporting drugs early this morning.

Upon searching the vehicle, a bag was found containing parcels of white substances believed to be methamphetamine. Three men were taken in for questioning.

All seized substances have been sent for analysis.

ACP Driu said the successful raids were as a result of information shared by members of the public.

“The sharing of information is truly appreciated and should be a warning to those involved in the illicit trade, that they will be caught”.
