Two men and a child have become the country’s latest road fatality victims in three separate accidents.

The first incident occurred along the Kings Road in Teidamu, Lautoka on Friday afternoon.

The 59-year-old victim was the driver of the vehicle alleged to have veered onto the opposite lane and collided with a car driven by a 34-year-old woman.

All occupants of both vehicles were rushed to the Lautoka Aspen Hospital where the 59-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival. The eight occupants of both vehicles were medically treated.

The second incident occurred in Kinoya yesterday morning. The 30-year-old suspect whilst heading towards Kinoya Road, allegedly lost control of his vehicle causing it to veer off the road and bumped the victim and two others walking on the side of the road.

All victims sustained injuries and were rushed to the Valelevu Health Centre and later transferred to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

Later in the evening, the 41-year-old man passed away at the Intensive Care Unit.

A 14-year-old boy remains admitted in stable condition while the third victim, a 13-year-old, was treated and discharged.

In the Northern Division, a 5-year-old child became a victim of a hit and run accident along the Lekutu-Nabouwalu highway last night.

The victim was standing with his father waiting to cross the road, and it is alleged that he suddenly ran across and was bumped by an unknown vehicle.

The victim was rushed to the Dreketi Health Centre, and later transferred to the Labasa Hospital, where he unfortunately passed away this morning.
