CQC EASTERN

The change must come from you as individual police officers.

This was the message relayed by the Director Training and Education, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Serupepeli Neiko whilst opening the Eastern Division cohort 4 Constable Qualifying Course earlier this week.

SSP Neiko said the CQC was first convened in 1997 supported by AusAid as a competency based training which ran for four months.

Members of the CQC are officers who have completed their On the Job Training (OJT) for over a two-year period since passing out.

SSP Neiko said the CQC was an opportunity for the officers to share their experiences during the OJT period, considering the differences in the theory and practice of policing duties in varying working environments whether it be rural, maritime or urban centres.

The Director Training said, “Come out of your shell and share your experiences. After graduating you would have noted changes, the different practices, from the theory and what is happening on the ground. It is important to share your experiences in the different fields”.

“We expect to see changes. We can invest in training, resources and technology, but if there is to be change, it must come from us as individual police officers”.
