Community Policing Officers seminar


Director Community Policing Senior Superintendent of Police [SSP] Bereta Naisua together with more than 30 Community Policing officers within the Central, Eastern and Southern Division attended the mSafe Community Policing Seminar this morning.

This is in partnership with Vodafone ATH Foundation with the theme “Love for communities, marking the celebration of Valentine’s Day –strength of technology in reaching larger populace.

Officers were advised about some of the initiatives that will help in addressing issues within their area of operation.

Vodafone ATH Foundation Executive Officer Ambalika Devi while delivering her speech highlighted the impacts of the two SMS platform[ mSafe and mSpeak Up] which was launched last year to create a safe,secure and smarter Vanua.

Officers were also advised on the Sustainable Income Generation Model where youths could access grants to help steer them away from problems.

Also part of this forum is Lifeline Fiji where it’s representative shared his experiences also highlighting some of the issues that needs to be strengthened in terms of community policing.

SSP Naisua while acknowledging the NGO’s involvement advised participants on the importance of implementing proactive measures and ensuring the information gathered at the Seminar was disseminated to members of their communities so they understand and know the opportunities and help available to them via the mSafe initiative.
