As part of the Fiji Police Force’s commitment to supporting regional police to police cooperation efforts, three police officers from the Nauru Police Force were welcomed this morning ahead of their two-week attachment program.
The attachment was made possible through the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji supported Nauru Accountable and Inclusive Governance Project, consistent with regional law enforcement empowerment efforts through the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) and Pacific Community for LawEnforcement Cooperation (PCLEC).
The three officers are Sergeant Christopher Dowiyogo, Sergeant Brando Tabaia and Constable Anthony Dabwadauw. The three will be on attachment with the Fiji Police Academy, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Community Policing.
The Fiji Police has over the years assisted the Nauru Police through various police to police cooperation programs, in training and a notable show of support was the secondment of a Fijian Police officer to assist with the establishment of the Nauru Police Band.
Other forms of cooperation have been the attachment of Nauru Police officers whose spouses were in Fiji for studies, as well as placements in the Fiji Police Basic Recruits Course Training.
