Community host tea for officers

The Namadi Community took time out this morning to host their Police Post personnel with a Christmas Morning tea.

Community Post President Bill Mar said the Fiji Police Force has been on the frontline battling the pandemic and also keeping their neighborhood safe.

“They are the reason that we sleep peacefully at night and this morning is all about saying thank you to them from every member of the Namadi Community,” said Mr Mar.

The Community President also thanked the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Band who were present to provide entertainment during the Christmas Breakfast.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Itendra Nair said he was overwhelmed by the support of the Namadi Community.

“When the poster of this event was shared by the Commissioner of Police to us, we were all taken back somewhat considering the community spirit that was driving the initiative to thank your community officers here at the Namadi Community Post.”

He said that they are often being reminded by the Commissioner on how a lot happens behind the scenes of policing which is not known, and personal challenges and sacrifices put in by officers and their families.

“This morning tea, surely came as a pleasant surprise to us all – as we do not expect anything in return for the work we swore an oath to undertake.

We are here to serve you and not to be served.”

DCP Nair wished everyone present a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
