Operations have started at the new Fiji Police Traffic/Transport Complex after it was officially opened earlier this week by the Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing Hon. Inia Seruiratu in a bid to ensure continuity of operations as the old facility built in 1943 had surpassed its lifetime.
The new state of art garage replaces the old facility maintained by the Fiji Police Force for more than seven decades having facilitated demands required to meet the maintenance of Police owned vehicles.
With increased demands on service delivery and mobility resources a new complex was designed to house state of the art machines, sections for vehicle maintenance, panel beating section, a servicing bay area and mechanical administration section.
The Hon. Minister stated that with any investment the onus was on the organisation to ensure the returns are seen through improved and efficient service delivery.
The National Traffic Control Centre, Southern Division Highway Unit and Traffic Accident Data Unit will also be located at the new Nasese complex.
