The Vanua of Nadi has formulated its COVID preventative measures in partnership with the Nadi Police Community Policing Unit and the I-Taukei Affairs Ministry.
Since the news of the resurgence of the virus in the Western Division last month the Vanua of Nadi set up seven Command and Coordination centers which would monitor all visitors and activities within the villages located along the Nadi and Sabeto Corridor.
Thorough checks are conducted for villagers who leave and enter the villages with all information to be reported to the village command centers.
All visitors from outside are facilitated at respective Centers but they are not allowed to enter the village under any circumstances.
As villagers have taken it upon themselves to set up these Centers on a twenty-four-hour basis, everyone has rallied together to provide food and refreshments for those assigned to conduct shift work.
The Western Command has acknowledged their efforts as daily reports have been provided to the Nadi Police Station of activities undertaken at the respective villages.
This past week the Director of Victory Security Company Mr. Vijay Singh donated food supplies following the joint efforts by the Vanua of Nadi and Police through the Community Policing aspect Mr. Singh visited the various village command centers accompanied by the Deputy Divisional Police Commander SP Pita Keni to hand over food supplies in support of the ongoing efforts.
Divisional Police Commander, West (DPC/W) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sami Surend has commended the efforts of the Vanua of Nadi and its stakeholders in working together with the Police.
