STATEMENT

The Fiji Police Force is strengthening enforcement of the Public Health measures as published in the gazette.

These urgent actions are targeted at ensuring Fijians adhering to the instructions as stipulated under the Public Health Act.

It was noticed that people still do not adhere to the instructions and not seriously taking into consideration the impact of the Pandemic and this has forced the Institution to enforce restrictions on the ground from tonight and taken to task those who still do not comply.

Members of the Public once again reminded that social distancing is important and anyone not following the two-meters distancing inside or outside the supermarket in any containment area will be arrested.

Officers will closely be monitoring businesses and all employees and customers to wear face coverings to enter their premises.

It is also vital for every driver of a Public Service Vehicle and the traveling passengers who are 5 years of age or older to wear masks and minibus drivers are to ensure that all passengers in the minibus are physically distanced from each other.

Parents and Guardians are to monitor their children and advise them of restrictions in place and also remind every family member that any person outside a containment zone must not enter the containment zone unless authorized by the Permanent Secretary for Health.

And for those living within a containment zone may only travel for employment, accessing services provided by an essential business, or an emergency.

Members of the Institution will ensure that all these restrictions are enforced and followed at all containment zones including Suva, Lami, Nadi, Nausori and Lautoka.

However for others, adhering to the advisories issued by the Health Ministry is vital.
