Breach of COVID-19 restrictions

Fifty–three people were arrested over the last 24 hours for breach of Health restrictions and Curfew Orders.

While this has shown that some people are still taking advantage of the instructions and advisories in place, one needs to know that all this was made for the benefit of all and the need to support initiatives put in place is vital.

Out of that number, forty-four cases were linked to either alcohol or kava. The Southern Division recorded thirty-four cases including nine people who were found drunk at the Laucala Beach area as well as two others who were arrested at Viwawa in Navua for intoxicated.

Two men were found drunk at Tacirua during curfew hours while a 28-year-old man was arrested at Nabua after he was found loitering.

Also arrested were six men of Tuirara in Makoi all were found drunk and in that they’ve breached the Health restrictions including eight other people who were also found intoxicated at Narere.

A 35-year-old man was found driving without a Pass during curfew hours along the Nabua area while a 16-year-old student was arrested from the Rokara settlement after he was trying to cross the border at Wainibuku.

The Eastern Division recorded nine cases including four people who were found drinking inside a vehicle along the Bau Road area, three were arrested for drinking kava at the Baulevu area while two farmers of Vunidawa were found drunk along the Serea road in Naitasiri during curfew hours.

Seven people were found intoxicated at Naduri village in Macuata while three other cases recorded in the Western Division were all related to curfew breaches and were arrested from the Natokowaqa area after being found intoxicated.

Members of the public are reminded that Police will continue to arrest those that do not adhere to the instructions and advisories issued.
