44 Arrests Made


Forty-four cases were recorded in the last 24-hours for failing to comply with Curfew Orders as well as breaching the COVID-19 restrictions in place.

Of that number eighteen were arrested for failing to comply with Curfew Orders while twenty-six found to have breached the COVID-19 restrictions in place.

The Southern Division recorded twenty-three cases whereby twenty-two are in relation to COVID-19 restrictions while a 26-year-old man of Samabula was found drunk at the Namadi Heights area within curfew hours.

Eight people were arrested in the Eastern Division for failing to comply with curfew orders while the Northern Division recorded Five cases whereby all were found drunk at the Nadawa street in Labasa, Wailevu area, and Wairiki in Taveuni during curfew hours.

The Western Division recorded four cases whereby all farmers were found drunk at Sigatoka town and have breached the COVID 19 restrictions.

For the Central Division, four men including a naval officer were found loitering at the Suva Handicraft Centre area during curfew hours.

Am pleading to members of the public to please respect the Health restrictions in place and be reminded not to make any unnecessary movement as those found to have breached the COVID-19 restrictions as well as the Curfew Orders will be taken to task.
