PPTAG VIRTUAL MEETING


The Pacific Police Training Advisory Group (PPTAG) Virtual Meeting was conducted this week.

PPTAG is one of the five key programes delivered across the Region under the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) forum.

The Commissioner of Police is the current Chair of the PPTAG meeting twice annually.

The PPTAG provides strategic advise and guidance to Pacific Chiefs of Police in relation to programs offered in the region including a focus on diversity, inclusion and wellbeing.

Representatives from the following countries and Organizations participated in this first PPTAG virtual session for 2021 including PNG, Palau, Solomon Is, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, Ne Zealand Police, Australia Federal Police, PICP Secretariat, Pacific Faculty of Policing - Australian Institute of Police Management, Pacific Islands Emergency Management Alliance (PIEMA);

Cyber Safety Pasifika and a guest appearance from the US Office of Special Investigation US Airforce, Honolulu.

Discussions focused on key training priorities identified by Pacific Police Chiefs noting the varying global policing demands confronting the Region.

The organization ensures continuity of other policing roles including external engagements as we battle and engage in Covid 19 operations.

The Institution's Director International Relations Senior Supretendent of Police Ulaiasi Ravula chaired the regional meeting on behalf of the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.
