STATEMENT

The Fiji Police Force hopes everyone living within the Suva-Nausori containment zone will understand the severity of the situation we are now in and comply with restrictions announced by the Permanent Secretary of Health Dr James Fong.

Police officers have been briefed to enforce movement restrictions to ensure Health officials are given as much support to conduct their work over the next 56 hour period.

Again the message is simple - STAY HOME.

The next 56 hours is crucial for us as a nation to determine the extent of how far the virus has spread, and we urge everyone to adhere to the restrictions announced tonight.

There will be zero tolerance on any breach of restrictions.

So unless you have been cleared by the Ministry or are travelling for a medical emergency, STAY HOME.

Police officers have been deployed within the Suva-Nausori containment zones and will be manning checkpoints over the weekend, and mobile patrols will be conducted to monitor unnecessary movement.

Fijians are also urged to call the; Police National Command Center - 9905 296 or

8983230

8983231

8983232

8983233 and report unnecessary movements or any breach of restrictions.

Reiterating the words of Dr James Fong - we have 56 hours to break as many chains of COVID transmission as possible.

We need to work together.

Together we can get ahead of the virus and beat it.

We've done it before and we can do it again.
