Successful Arrests


The two men who were successfully arrested by a joint operation team of officers from Namaka and Nadi Police Station this week appeared at the Nadi Magistrate Court this afternoon.

One of the accused aged 33 was involved in a break-in early this month at a Mobile shop in the Nadi town and stole gadgets, torch, and recharge cards worth more than $3000.

He was arrested from the Bila settlement at Votualevu this week and was charged with one count of Aggravated Burglary and One Count of Theft.

Police managed to recover two mobile phones worth $900.

However, the accused was again involved in another break-in with a man in his 20’s on the 24th of this month whereby they broke into an LTA office and stole a reflector jacket which was later recovered.

The same man was then involved again in another break-in at the Nadi Back Rd in the early hours of the 27th of this month whereby he stole gadgets including a knapsack bag worth more than $2000 however with quick action by the team had resulted in his arrest and all items were recovered from his place at Bila settlement.

In the process, he had also admitted that he stole two-vehicle batteries owned by a businessman in Nadi worth more than $700.

While a man in his 20’s was on bail with strict conditions the other accused were ordered by the Court to stay indoors from 6 pm to 6 am daily till his next court hearing date on the 2nd of June.
