The British High Commissioner to Fiji, H.E Mr.George Edgar paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu earlier this week.
The Acting Commissioner used the opportunity to express the institution’s gratitude for the long-standing diplomatic relations which the Force has directly benefitted from in terms of law enforcement cooperation.
He had also acknowledged the training assistance offered by the British Government over the past years.
“Although there have been testing times during our journey as a young sovereign nation, we kindly note that through the British support and that of other Commonwealth member nations, the Fiji Police has benefitted greatly in terms of the advancement of law enforcement opportunities”.
The Acting Commissioner also acknowledged the posting of Defense Advisors at the High Commission reflecting the important role Britain plays as a strategic partner in this region.
The British High Commissioner says he was happy to learn more about the Force while at the same time reaffirming his Government’s commitment to working with the Fiji Police Force in specific areas of video interviewing training, human trafficking and Cyber Crime to name a few.
A quarter guard was also accorded during this official visit.
