"The beauty of sharing is a message I would like to promote whether it be for your benefit or anything that affects your daily life, please share ".Â
These are sentiments shared by St Andrews Parish Youth Leader Father Semi Ulunasobu, after he received a brush-cutter from Labasa Businessman Mr Satish Chand to assist with his community policing efforts.
Mr. Chand and Father. Ulunasobu were participants of the Northern Community Policing Symposium conducted in Savusavu this week whereby members of civil societies, faith-based organizations, NGOs, and government agencies gathered for two days to find ways of strengthening networking between Police and the communities to help fight crime in the Northern Division.
Fr. Ulunasobu during his presentation said his intent was to actively engage youths in community related activities that would benefit their communities, one of which was a clean-up campaign.
The idea was quickly supported by fellow and long-time North Crime Prevention member and Labasa businessman Mr Satish Chand who pledged to help Father Ulunasobu’s efforts.
One of the intents of convening the Northern Symposium was to bring community leaders together to not only strengthen working relations with Police, but with each other.
Fr. Ulunasobu said there is a lot that can be achieved by working together.
