Case of interest

The investigation into a case where the parents of a 7-year old girl buried their daughter without a burial order late last month continues.

The incident occurred in a settlement in Tavua.

According to information gathered, the victim was allegedly sick for the last three months but was never taken for medical treatment as it went against their religious beliefs.

The victim passed away on the 23rd of February whereby a decision was made not to report the matter to Police or to take the victim's body to the Hospital.

The burial was conducted the same day. The victim’s body was exhumed yesterday where a post mortem examination was conducted to ascertain the victim's cause of death.

Investigations continue.
