Another ten officers have been selected to undergo Graduate Certificate Studies with the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) further strengthening the Fiji Police Force’s succession planning efforts.
Supported by the Pacific Faculty of Policing under the AIPM umbrella, the Fiji Police has so far been given thirty study placements with the prestigious learning institution.
Due to COVID, studies are conducted online.
The Pacific Faculty of Policing (PFP), a joint Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) initiative, brings together police leaders from across the Pacific for professional, leadership and executive development opportunities and enhancing policing leadership capabilities to manage current and emerging security threats in the region.
Among the ten are Corporal Vignesh Prasad Corporal Savenaca Vue both of whom joined the FPF in 2014 and have shown potential as future leaders.
Cpl Prasad is based at the Labasa Prosecutions Unit while Cpl Vue is the Post Officer at the Waidalice Community Post.
In congratulating the newly selected officers, Chief of Policy and Projects Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Isei Raboiliku said they should consider themselves fortunate to be given opportunities that were not available during their younger days of service.
ACP Raboiliku reminded the officers that an important virtue of being a great leader was humility.
Similar sentiments echoed by the Chief of Administration ACP Juki Fong Chew who said the officers needed to take on the opportunity with the right attitude.
The AIPM’s Pacific Faculty of Policing’s study programs will help address training of FPFs future leaders.
Succession planning is a key priority for the Fiji Police Force in order to fill the gap between the senior officers and young leaders.
