Public Support in the fight against drugs

The Fiji Police Force has commended the overwhelming support shown by the people of Kadavu towards the ongoing drug operations on the island.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says despite some earlier opposition against the operations, there has been a huge turnaround of support as people are willing to share information more freely.

This past week more than 7,000 plants were uprooted from two farms in Lavidi, Nakasaleka.

ACP Khan said the successful seizures resulted from tip offs received from concerned individuals.

"We have noted a significant change in the way our teams are being accepted on the ground".

"Previously we had to deploy drones to search for farms, but now the drones are being used just as a means to help us locate the quickest route to the farms that we have confirmed through the information shared".

ACP Khan says the drugs once tested will be destroyed once approval is granted by the Courts.
