Participants of the two-day Training of the Trainers workshop in Suva were reminded that change has to be seen and the effectiveness of that change are in their hands.
Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu at the closing of the training in Nasova this week said changes can only be made if participants practice it first before others.
“You can’t expect young officers to address members of the public as Sirs and Madams when you do not practice it so whatever you have gained from this training do it to the best of your ability so that changes can be seen and therefore other officers can exercise it on the ground ’’.
The Acting Commissioner had mentioned that they need to hear positive comments from the public which is much needed rather than the ones that are being derive from unprofessional conduct of officers.
He said some Fijians have shown their support for the organization in terms of Customer Service training and some are starting to witness officers showing professionalism in their service delivery.
“Those are the comments that I want to hear, if people sending me text messages acknowledging the work professionally conducted by officers, I’d appreciate that and it shows that the directives issued are followed.”
The Acting Commissioner Tudravu has encouraged participants to put into practice what they’ve learned so far and pass on those basics skills of Customer Service to officers that work with them at station level, Command Centers and Community Posts.
