“It’s not easy being part of the Relief Team in the North considering the devastation caused by TC Yasa to those affected and our thoughts and prayers are with them always.”
Words of sympathy echoed by the New Zealand Police Liaison Ms. Sue Douglas who is currently with the 33 member Police Operation Relief team in Nabouwalu,Bua.
This morning the team continued their operations by assisting fellow comrade PC Mikaele Lui based at the Nabouwalu Police Station.
PC Lui described surviving the devastating cyclone, a miracle.
“I did not think we would survive when TC Yasa hit but one thing for sure is that we can make it because we believe in the miracle God who ensures that those who abide by his rules will be protected".
The Police Operation team is in the North to assist fellow officers in the recovery phase as well as continuing with everyday police operations.
For Inspector Douglas she is grateful to be given the opportunity to assist fellow officers in their time of need with Christmas just around the corner. “
