A raid conducted by a team from Totogo, joint K9 Unit, and Waterpol onboard an inter-island vessel that was returning from Kadavu yesterday led to the seizure of illicit drugs believed to be marijuana.
Three men are currently in custody following the raid.
Seized substances include dried branches and leaves found wrapped in aluminum foil inside a plastic and a big bag believed to be marijuana.
Investigations continue.
Chief of Operations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Khan is advising the public that police operations around the four divisions have stepped up their focus on drugs, anticipating peddlers to be looking for quick means of earning money.
“We are aware of the increased activities of drug peddlers as they look to make money over the busy festive season”.
He adds that while some have labeled the operations a waste of time, as far as policing is concerned we will continue to do so if it means saving another innocent life from the harmful effects of drugs.
If anyone has information, feel free to call our Command Centers which are operating 24 hours so we can get these drugs and those involved off our streets.
