Call for Submissions of the Draft Police Bill 2020


The Ministry of Defence, National Security and Policing is currently calling for submissions for the review of the Police Act 1965 (Act No. 10 of 1965). The Draft Police Bill 2020 aims to:

- provide additional enforcement powers to the Fiji Police Force to effectively address new types of crime and the mode of committing such crimes in Fiji’;

- provide legal powers to use state of the art technologies to combat complex and organised crime; and

- provide deterrent penalties for non-compliance to the provisions of the Draft Bill.

Online submissions has commenced on Friday 26th February, 2021 at 12.00 pm and will continue for a period of 30 days.

The face to face consultation will commence at a later date. The dates, times and venues for the face to face consultation will be advertised at a later date.
