Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Reshmi Singh recently attended a workshop on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in Police Peacekeeping, organized jointly by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the International Police Peacekeeping Operations Support (IPPOS) programme of the U.S. Department of State.
The workshop was held from 13 to 17 May 2024 in Nepal.
ASP Singh was selected based on her involvement in peacekeeping selection, training, police gender affairs, and/or police human resources with knowledge of challenges to the recruitment of women Police Peacekeepers and efforts to address them.
ASP Singh was the first Fiji Police woman officer to attend the Formed Police Unit (FPU) Train the Trainers (ToT) Course in CoEspu, Vicenza in Italy from August to December, 2008, and is the only FPF Officer deployed as part of the Proficiency Testing and Training Team (PT3) for Formed Police Units (FPU) in United Nations Mission in Timor Leste (UNMIT).
She has also served as a member of the United Nations Mobile Training Team Pilot (MTTP), deployed to Train the Formed Police Units in United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).
During her tenure in UNMISS between 2016 to 2017, she was certified as a UN AMS/SAAT Instructor, and has also been certified as a United Nations Standard Training Material (UN STM) Instructor for UN Police Officers in Canberra, Australia.
???????????ASP Singh, along with Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruci Nasemira, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shobna Sharma, ASP Rusila Cakacaka and Inspector (IP) Fawini Kado are certified UN AMS/SAAT Instructors.
In addition, Inspector Mereani Vasakula is a certified UN Assessment of Operational Capability (AOC) Instructor for FPU’s.
????Fiji Police women officers have also served in various capacities in UN missions as IPO’s, Trainers, Technical Advisers, Regional Commanders, Teams Leaders, Deputy Police Commissioners, Police Commissioners and many more, serving with pride and honor in United Nations Missions.
