A two-year old child died following a motor vehicle accident in Dreketi earlier this week.
The victim was traveling in a vehicle driven by his father when the accident occurred.
It is alleged that whilst heading towards Nabouwalu after 1pm, the suspect lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and hit a post.
The victim who was sitting with his mother in the front seat sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to the Seaqaqa Health Center, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations continue.
The road death toll currently stands at 19 compared to 38 for the same period last year.
Drivers are requested to please drive safely, and practice all necessary road safety precautionary measures to avoid accidents.
Please plan your travel ahead of time to avoid rushing, as speeding continues to be the leading cause of road accidents and fatalities.
