Students safety paramount

As the hype builds to the annual Coca-cola Games, the Fiji Police Force is requesting parents and guardians to support policing efforts by continuously counselling their children on the consequences of being involved in any form of illegal activities.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu said it is both worrying and unfortunate to receive reports and information of students involved or behaving in an unruly manner, which at times is also caught on camera and shared widely on social media.

ACP Driu said when this happens, students face public criticism which would be difficult to handle as a young person.

The head of operations, says this is a common message pushed out by officers when conducting awareness at schools, and it is hoped that the same can be reinforced at home.

He added as hype is again building for the annual athletics meet, regular counselling and guidance is needed as there are many temptations that may impact a child’s life and education.
