UN TRAINING


The United Nations (UN) Job Specific Training (JST) workshop scheduled from 05th – 23rd February 2024, commenced yesterday at the Nakasi Training Room.

This week will be used by ten International trainers to prepare for the delivery of the Job Specific Topics of Mentoring, Monitoring & Advising (MMA), Community Oriented Policing (COP), and Capacity Building & Development (CBD) to the nominees of the Fiji Police Force (FPF) to develop their skills, attitudes, and knowledge on performing peacekeeping duties while representing the FPF in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions.

This course is hosted by FPF while it’s been funded and supported by the US Government in collaboration with the Australian Federal Police.

The Master trainers are Mr. Glenn Crannage Australia and IPPOS, Mr. Roy Lalonde from Canada and IPPOS, Mr. Paolo Bonanno from France and IPPOS, Miss Elaine Melere from Parana State Police, Brazil.

The master trainers are being supported by Miss Jennifer Saunders from Australia Federal Police, Mr, Tuifao Luatua and Ms. Tugaga Stowers from Samoa, Mr. Kiroon Tekirabu from Kiribati and Mr. William McNichol from Solomon Islands.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Yunus Hanif, Inspector of Police (IP) George Mar and A/IP Rakeshawar Singh from the FPF are all UN Certified Instructors and have received their certified during the JST that was conducted in Fiji last year.

ASP Sanjay Sen and ASP Reshmi Singh are also experienced FPF trainers with the UN. Mr. Darius Caleb from Nauru will be providing additional support.

Fiji Police Force Director of International Relations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula in his opening remarks welcomed the international trainers to Fiji.

He stressed that with Fiji’s experience in Peacekeeping, it will also support its neighboring Pacific Islands in ensuring that they can also represent their country in UN peacekeeping.

SSP Ravula is also representing the Pacific Island Chiefs of Police (PICP) where they are now putting forward a combined effort towards contribution to Peacekeeping.

Director International relations has assured that the Acting Commissioner and the Fiji Police Force stands to support the efforts towards World Peace.
