Progress Report

The four fishermen who went missing from Yanuca on Wednesday night have been found.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu said the four drifted to Lomawai in Sigatoka and are all safe.

“They drifted in a Fiber fishing boat on Wednesday from Yanuca at around 05.00pm due to problem with the engine. This morning at 02.00am they managed to paddle the boat using the seat ply and reached the shore at Namata, Nadi,” said ACP Driu.

He said the four went to a nearest house and use a phone to inform their family of their status.

ACP Driu would like to acknowledge all stakeholders and members of the communities who had a helping hand in the search and rescue efforts.

“The search has now been called off and I am calling all on everyone to please continue to monitor the Marine time weather forecast before heading out to sea.”
