Meet Your Officers

Meet Police Constable 8422 Mohammed Afshaan who is now calling Levuka his humble home.

The 22 year old newly pass out Police Officer hails from Soasoa in Labasa and is now going through his first posing at Levuka Police Station.

“When I was told to come to Levuka, I had mixed feelings. I was worried that I don’t know anyone here and no one will look after my parents back in Labasa,” said PC Afshaan.

His father is a retired taxi driver and his mother does domestic duties. PC Afahaan has two elder sisters who are now married and living with their husbands.

“I am close to my parents, I use to worry about them during my recruitment days. I was hoping to have my first posting to Labasa but I guess the Almighty has other plans for me. My parents are coping without me and I talk to them every day. I become a Police Officer because I wanted to serve the people and also to support mom and dad.”

The feeling of fear disappeared due to the hospitality of the Police Officers at Levuka Police Station and their families.

“I felt right at home when we were introduced to everyone at the Station. Christmas Operation was enjoyable as I got introduced to members of the Community who had been nothing but welcoming.”

With his career in the Fiji Police Force just starting, PC Afshaan is glad that he had chosen the right profession.

Now after two weeks in Levuka, the former All Saints Secondary Student said he doesn’t want to leave the old Capital.

PC Afshaan would like to wish his parents, friends, the Instructors at the Fiji Police Academy and his Batch 66 comrades a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
