H.E. Mehta was accorded a quarter guard ceremony of welcome, marking his first official visit to the Fiji Police Force and held discussions with the Commissioner of Police on various areas of police cooperation.

Commissioner Tudravu conveyed the FPF’s appreciation for the Indian Government’s support towards police cooperation efforts which have for years covered specialised courses in the areas of senior leadership, database and web programming, global human resources management, financial management and fingerprint courses for Forensic officers.

H.E. Mehta assured Commissioner Tudravu of his Government’s continued support, adding the formalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding will further strengthen shared security arrangements at Government and state police levels.

Commissioner Tudravu said the Fiji Police Force is undergoing organisational transformation aimed at rebuilding trust and confidence, adding engagements with international law enforcement agencies augur well in terms of ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of policing approaches.

Both parties agreed on engaging further in other specialised areas of cooperation once the MOU is finalised.
