K9 Graduation

Seven new K9 Patrol Dogs graduated this morning boosting the Fiji Police frontline operation capabilities.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sakeo Raikaci said the Police Dog Unit has grown in strength largely due to the support of its regional and international partners.

"I wish to acknowledge the New Zealand Government for their continued support. When it comes to the Fiji Police K9 and NZ K9, it is more than a partnership, we are a family," said DCP Raikaci.

The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the work done by NZ Senior Inspector Todd Southall and Sir Wally Kopae for developing the Fiji Police K9 Unit.

"Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with our K9 team and today we are witnessing your commitment and dedication to our Duavata Partnership. Surely, the NZ Government has sent us their best people to develop our K9 capabilities."

Three of the seven newly K9 graduates along with its handlers will be deployed to the Western Division.
