Twenty two (22) officers have graduated from a one (1) week workshop on Cyber Investigations facilitated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Australian Federal Police’s Cyber Safety Pasifika Program and New Zealand Police.
The Cyber Investigation course provides the officers with a comprehensive coverage of cybercrime investigation, encompassing methods, techniques, and tools used to investigate various digital threats and security incidents.
Closing the week workshop was U.S. Embassy Suva Regional Security Officer Special Agent Sam McRae who thanked the various agencies for working in partnership to achieve the goals of the workshop.
“I’m pleased to join you all to commemorate the culmination of this Cyber Investigations workshop, which has introduced you to the new methods of investigating the ever-evolving world of Cyber Crime”, he said.
“The U.S State Department, and the FBI, has partnered to provide similar training throughout the world. We are only too pleased to do the same here, to ensure that the Pacific region’s law enforcement remains on an equal footing with the rest of the world”, he added.
RSO McRae also stated that the U.S and the FBI will be discussing ways in which they can conduct the next stage of the workshop.
Mr. Ryan Prasad an ICT Security Analyst of Fiji Revenue and Customs Service has labelled the workshop as a fruitful one.
“I wish to thank my organization for allowing me to undergo this FBI Cyber Security training. Throughout the course, participants are encouraged to stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity technologies and trends, ensuring they understand evolving threats and attack vectors”, he said.
Mr. Prasad said the workshop included an overview of cybercrimes and their implications on individuals and organizations.
“The course was informative, engaging, and highly beneficial for enhancing my knowledge and skills in cybercrime investigation and cybersecurity”, he added.
With the twenty two participants 12 were police officers, 6 officers were from Fiji Revenue and Customs Services, 3 officers were from Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption and an officer was from Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.
