Affectionately known as “Na” to her comrades, the late Corporal Merewenibeia Taberanibou was described as an officer who always put the interests of others before her own.
A Fiji Police delegation led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police – Administration (ACP) Meli Sateki on behalf of the Acting Commissioner of Police?, presented the organisation’s reguregu to the fallen officers family in Nadera this morning.
Cpl Taberanibou had served for 24-years and 5-months as a loyal member of the Fiji Police Force before she was called to eternal rest on the 8th of August, 2023 following a short illness.
Delivering the Force’s eulogy during the homecoming service at the Nadera Methodist Church? was the Officer in Charge of Cakaudrove? District, Assistant Superintendent of Police Rusiate Ryland, who described the late Corporal as selfless as she would always find time to assist her comrades and provide guidance to junior officers, which earned her the term of endearment “Na”.
ASP Ryland said the late Taberanibou had served mainly in the Northern Division in Savusavu, Labasa, Tukavesi and Rabi, and at every posting, would have an immediate impact on everyone she came across as a result of her kind and warm nature.
Cpl Taberanibou during her years of service had completed various trainings and courses such as Trauma and Counselling workshop, Police Tactics and Techniques, Mental Health and Suicide Response Workshop, Dragger Operators Course and Sports Outreach Program to name a few.
ASP Ryland thanked the late Corporal’s family for supporting her work and said they should be proud of her achievements as she was loyal, dedicated and committed to her life of service to her country.
The late Cpl Taberanibou ?was laid to rest at the Nasinu Cemetery. ?
She is survived by her two children.
