New Caravan for Police

The Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival Committee for supporting the work of your police officers in the Northern Division.

Yesterday, Chairman Mr Satish Kumar and committee members handed over a Police caravan to the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and witnessed by the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Hon. Pio Tikoduadua at the Labasa Police Station.

Minister Tikoduadua said, “Building confidence through partnerships is the way forward in crime prevention. Police will never be able to do it all. There are more members of the public then there are police and the ratio everywhere is overwhelming”.

“You will be glad to know that in this process that we are taking in trying to revive the police force under the theme of restoring blue, we would like the centre of police work to be community policing. It’s the police force through government, partnering with the public to be able to create an environment that is free from crime or where we can manage crime”.

Echoing similar sentiments was the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew who said, “Moving forward I want us to rebuild trust so that we work together for the betterment of the people we serve. We cannot do it alone, we need partners in crime prevention".

He acknowledged the continuous support of the Duavata Carnival committee members for working with Police in the Northern Division.
