Twelve police officers who recently returned from a year of Tour of Duty (TOD) began their reintegration Program at the Police Special Response Unit (PSRU) training room today.
Out of the 12 Police Officers, 11 returned from the United Nation Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and 1 Police Officer from the Multinational Force Observers (MFO) in Sinai The returning officers were officially welcomed by the Director International Relations, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula who extended the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew's appreciation of the officers peacekeeping roles during their deployment and also acknowledged their families for their support.
SSP Ravula said there has been a lot of changes that have taken place during their one year away.
“Throughout this re-integration program you will realize that a lot has changed in the one year. There have been changes in Government, and in our Organization as well, there are new policies in place that you need to understand,” SSP Ravula said.
SSP Ravula said the efforts of the officers contributed to the Fiji Police's diplomacy efforts and their conduct whilst on tour reflected positively not only on the organisation but the nation in accordance with the Foreign Service Institute concept on consolidating delivery of Foreign policy priorities on all fronts of Government including the FPF.
“Now that you’re back, take the time to share your wealth of experience and knowledge that you have acquired from your tour with your colleagues.
You will be an asset wherever you are posted now,” he added. SSP Ravula said 24 officers will soon be deployed to UNMISS and 3 to UNISFA as UN IPO.
The Fiji Police Force acknowledges with gratitude the support of the Fiji Mission in NY/PRUN in particular Military Police Advisor Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Vakadewabuka for his assistance.
